Dr. Nirmal KC Nair is an experienced engineer, consultant, educator, and passionate IEEE volunteer. From Gujarat to Texas, and then in New Zealand, Nirmal has dedicated his career to advancing engineering through IEEE since 1989 (i.e. 35+ years). With consulting in public and private sector and advanced degrees from MS University, IISc Bangalore, and Texas A&M University, he brings deep technical expertise and hands-on leadership.

He leads from the front, organizing webinars, lunch bag sessions, conferences, networking events, and knowledge-sharing initiatives every year to mentor members, spark collaboration, and connect professionals across borders. His efforts have earned multiple IEEE awards and helped build a strong, engaged community. As Chair of the IEEE New Zealand Council, he brings a powerful combination of hands-on leadership and effective governance. These are some of the qualities he will bring to the Director-Elect role.
